Chances

Chances is a multi-agency partnership, supporting local people from across Norfolk to access opportunities in work, training and volunteering, as well as assisting those who have lost their jobs due to Covid-19.

 

Chances supports participants with deep-seated barriers to work, including long-term health conditions, poor employability skills, or a lack of self-confidence. Support is individualised and focused on overcoming obstacles to participation, within the context of engagement or employment.

 

Chances operates across district boundaries; delivery in each of Norfolk’s 7 districts is assigned to a single delivery partner. Callum's Story

Callum came to us through his Job Centre’s Work Coach, having been unemployed for some time. He found applying for jobs to be a real struggle; he felt his CV wasn’t good enough to get him an interview and even if he did get through to selection stages, he had very little confidence in his ability to interview well.

 

He had a few support sessions with his Chances Advocate, who supported him to remodel his CV, search and apply for jobs online and practice interviewing. Through the support his confidence grew enormously, he applied for several positions, happily got through interview stages and finally found employment.

 

I am in employment now! I work 25-hours per week, thanks to my Chances Advocate who helped me immensely with interview practice and skills. I hated job interviews, I was very uncomfortable doing them but after much practice, I was able to talk my way through two interviews I had. I used to meet my advocate in a public space such as cafes which I liked. It was all very local and convenient for me.

 

I would definitely recommend Chances to anyone else. I couldn’t have asked for a better Advocate, good at making people feel at ease and comfortable. My Advocate has very good listening skills and lots of knowledge, so I was able to learn a lot and develop skills I didn’t even know I had. 10/10!
